Nigeria Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi has stated that qualifying for the 2026 World Cup is now in the hands of the team, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The Besiktas player reveals in the Super Eagles camp ahead of their World Cup Qualifiers against Rwanda that the team's fate of qualification is theirs to lose.
The former Leicester City man affirms that the mentality of the team, the coaching and non-coaching around is one to win as they all understand the current situation.
"It's very crucial. The chance is in our hands now and we know how important it is . So I feel everyone is ready, everyone is ready, everyone knows the position we are in right now, everyone is focused. We know we are in a difficult situation, but we know it is in our hands. So everyone is ready; the players, the coaching crew even the hostel staff try to encourage us and smile with us."
The Super Eagles find themselves in a precarious situation after garnering seven points in six matches which put them in fourth position in group C.
The team now needs to win the remaining matches of the qualifiers to stand a chance of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup scheduled to to be jointly hosted by 16 cities in three North American countries; the United States, Canada and Mexico.
