Despite sitting third in Group C with 11 points, six points behind joint leaders Benin Republic and South Africa, Bassey believes the team can still secure a place at the World Cup.

"To remain calm and do what we have to. I think this is not the first time, club or country, anyone of us have been in a high-pressure moment,” he told the Super Eagles media.

“So, I think we have got an experienced team to handle this situation. It is just about making sure we do everything right.”

The Super Eagles will take on Lesotho in Polokwane on Friday, followed by a home match against Benin Republic next Tuesday.

A win in both games would significantly boost their chances, but they would still need favorable results from other teams in the group to secure a World Cup spot.
