Insurance FC of Benin City coach, Baldwin Bazuaye has dedicated the club’s promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) to the people of Edo State, who he says waited patiently for 11 years to see the team return to the top-flight

Bazuaye admitted he feels proud being the coach that achieved the feat for The Benin Arsenal, but footballlive.ng reports that he stressed roles played by the supporters, all Edo People and the state government.

Insurance kept a 100 per cent record in the Nigeria National League (NNL) Super 8 after a  1-0 win against Shooting Stars of Aba at Enyimba International Stadium, Aba to finish with maximum nine points.

That means they return to the elite division for the first time since 2008, when they were demoted to the lower league, and had a chance to add the Super-8 title from Thursday’s final against Kada City of Kaduna.

Bazuaye said: “I feel great. I won trophies as a player and I am happy to help Insurance return to the topflight.”

The Benin City club’s captain, Charles Omokaro was also exuding delight, especially as it was his goal that made a difference in sealing his side’s long-awaited return to the top flight.

Omokaro added: “Insurance has been in the lower division for 11 years and now we are back.

“I feel very happy because this is what the people of Edo State have waited for.

“With the assistance of Governor Godwin Obaseki and his Deputy, Comrade Philip Shaibu, we have achieved this feat for Edo people.”
