Nigerian forward Sadiq Umar produced a decisive second-half performance to inspire Real Sociedad to a 2–0 victory over Reus FC in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday night at the Estadi Municipal de Reus, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Introduced at the start of the second half, Umar immediately lifted the visitors’ attack and played a key role in both goals. His impact began in the 49th minute when he rose highest to head down a corner, allowing Mikel Goti to fire home from close range for the opener.
Umar then sealed the win deep into stoppage time. After being brought down in the box, he stepped up to convert the resulting penalty in the 90th minute plus three, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way. The strike marked his first goal in eight months.
The forward replaced Arsen Zakharyan at halftime, and his contribution proved decisive as Sociedad progressed comfortably to the next round.
