Nigeria international Victor Osimhen made his return from injury on Monday as Galatasaray were held to a dramatic 1–1 draw by rivals Fenerbahçe in a tense Turkish Super Lig derby at Sukru Saracoglu Stadium, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Osimhen, who recently recovered from a moderate left-hamstring strain sustained while on international duty with Nigeria against DR Congo, rejoined full training on Friday and was declared fit ahead of the derby.
Galatasaray opened the scoring in the 27th minute when Leroy Sané’s effort took a deflection and found its way into the net.
The visitors appeared on course for a crucial victory before Fenerbahçe mounted a late surge. The hosts were rewarded deep into stoppage time, with Durán rising to head home a Munir Mercan cross in the 90+5th minute to level the score at 1–1.
The result keeps Galatasaray top of the league on 33 points, with Fenerbahçe just one point behind on 32.
Osimhen's return is a major boost for Galatasaray as they continue their push in the Super Lig title race, and for the Super Eagles as they prepare for the African Cup of Nations this December.
