The National Sports Commission (NSC) and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have dismissed reports claiming that Golden Eaglets head coach Eboboritse Uwejamomere has been appointed assistant coach of Nigeria’s U-23 national team, the Olympic Eagles, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Uwejamomere recently led the Golden Eaglets at the 2026 WAFU-B U-17 Boys Tournament in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, but senior officials from both organisations have denied that he has been added to the Olympic Eagles’ technical crew.

An official of the NSC and another from the NFF separately refuted the reports while speaking to BSN Sports on condition of anonymity.

“There is no truth in that report,” the NSC official said, adding that Uwejamomere continues to contribute to Nigerian football in other technical roles.

“We all know that Eboboritse has been working as a video analyst with the Super Eagles for the past four years. He was also the video analyst for the Super Falcons at the last Olympic Games. So, he is not jobless,” the official added.

An NFF official also dismissed the speculation, insisting that there had been no proposal or appointment involving the Golden Eaglets coach.

“As far as we are concerned, nobody has proposed or appointed the Golden Eaglets coach to the U-23 Eagles team. We have a complete backroom staff ahead of the team's 2028 Olympic Games qualifying campaign,” the official said.

The clarification comes as the Olympic Eagles prepare for their two-legged qualifying encounter against the Democratic Republic of Congo in the race to reach the 2027 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations.

The continental tournament serves as Africa’s qualifying competition for the men’s football event at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

Nigeria are scheduled to travel to face DR Congo in the first leg on November 9, 2026, before hosting the return fixture on November 17.

The Olympic Eagles will be aiming to overcome the Congolese side across the two matches and keep their hopes of reaching the continental tournament alive.
