Lazio have opened negotiations to sign Portuguese defender Diogo Leite, who is available as a free agent following his departure from Union Berlin.
The Serie A club are exploring a deal for the 26-year-old, with reports from football transfer insider Nicolo Schira saying Lazio have made Leite a contract proposal. The Italian side are understood to be offering a two-year agreement with the option to extend it by a further season.
Leite’s availability comes after he ended his spell with Union Berlin, where he had played since 2022. During his time at the German club, the defender made 136 appearances, scoring two goals and providing three assists.
Lazio are now in discussions over a possible move for the Portugal international, as the Rome-based team considers adding him to its squad. The proposed structure would initially keep Leite at the club for two seasons, while giving Lazio the option of retaining him for an additional campaign.
