Enzo Fernandez says joining Manchester City fulfils a dream after completing his £125m move from Chelsea on the final day of the summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old midfielder has signed a five-year contract with Manchester City after the clubs agreed a deal worth £125m.
“I always dreamed of joining such a big club as Manchester City,” Fernandez said after completing the transfer.
Fernandez’s move brings his time at Chelsea to an end after two years at the club. He joined Chelsea from Benfica in 2023 and now begins a new chapter with Manchester City, who paid the substantial fee to secure his services before the summer window closed.
The Argentina international could make his debut for the club on 5 September, when Manchester City are scheduled to face Coventry.
His first appearance will therefore come after the completion of the transfer, with the fixture against Coventry offering the earliest opportunity for Fernandez to play in his new colours.
Manchester City completed the signing on deadline day, making Fernandez one of the final major arrivals of the summer window. The agreement also commits him to the club for five years, keeping him at Manchester City through the length of his initial contract.
Fernandez joined Benfica before moving to Chelsea in 2023. His spell at Chelsea lasted until the deadline-day agreement with Manchester City was finalised, bringing a change of club for the 25-year-old.
