Nigeria’s Falconets began their FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup campaign on a disappointing note after suffering a 2-0 defeat to European champions Spain, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Spain made the most of their chances, finding the breakthrough through Marisa García before substitute Alba Cerrato doubled the advantage after the restart.
The Falconets struggled to create a response as Spain maintained control of the encounter and comfortably secured all three points.
Nigeria will now turn their attention to their next Group F fixture, where they will be looking to bounce back and strengthen their chances of progressing to the knockout stage.
