Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Olushola Ogunnowo, stressed that proper medical examinations for players remain non-negotiable and must align with international best practices.

“The main aim of the webinar, which involves club medical staff and journalists, is for the Medical Consultant to provide detailed explanations.

“The process includes how to undergo comprehensive screening to detect underlying conditions, such as cardiovascular issues. It is a standard, often mandatory procedure for professional footballers before major competitions.

“We are adapting a technology app for Athlete Monitoring (EMR) electronically. This will serve as a medical history record of players and can be accessed online wherever the player goes in the course of his career.

“This helps the NLO to document each player's medical history and physical wellbeing using ECGs and echocardiograms.

“In the long run, it aims to prevent sudden cardiac death and identify injuries or illnesses that could be aggravated by the sport.”

The initiative forms part of the league’s broader commitment to improving player welfare and ensuring that clubs meet the required health and safety standards ahead of the new campaign.

A major highlight of the AGM was the unveiling of the league’s newly rebranded logo by the Director General of the National Directorate of Employment. Mai Kunkele United, Kano Ambassadors, Warinje FC, and City FC have qualified for the NNL after finishing top of the centres in the Northern Conference of the Nationwide League One promotional playoff, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The four teams emerged as winners of the Bwari Centre (Abuja), ABS Centre (Kaduna), Jos Centre, and Gumel Centre (Jos) after three matches were played.

Mai Kunkele United edged House of Prayer Football Academy to win the Bwari Centre as both teams garnered 7 points each, but the Niger State based side triumphed on goals difference.

Kano Ambassadors maintained their perfect start throughout to win their group with 9 points, 3 points better than JNR Danburan, which finished in second place.

Real Sapphire FC  came third with 4 points, while FC Ebedei ended the campaign with a point.

A notice from the NLO Secretariat states that the promotion play-off is scheduled to commence on June 12, 2025.

A total of 16 teams from the southern region and 16 from the northern region will participate in the playoff.

Magic Stars FC, Okaka FC, Ikorodu City Football Academy and Lekki United in the Ijebu Ode centre. Real Sapphire, FC Ebedei, Joy Cometh FC, and Stormers SC in the Ibadan centre.

While Morak FC, Karim Adeyemi, Ekiti United FC, and Hammola FC in Sagamu Stadium, as well as E-Works FC, Ozalla FC, FC One Rock, and Ahudiyannema FC in Port Harcourt Stadium, make up the teams in the Southern region that will commence on June 12.

The northern region matches start June 19 with NA Royal FC, House of Prayer, Zeal Minds, and Mai Kunkele United FC in Bwari Stadium. Vet Rivers, City FC, FWC FC, and Campro FC in the Lafia Stadium.

While Warinje FC, Kaduna United FC, DMD FC, and AVM FC in Jos Stadium, and Discovery Academy, Clever Warriors FC, JNR Danburam FC, and Kano Ambassadors FC in Gumel Stadium.

Following clearance, the four southern zone teams' arrival is on Tuesday, 11th June 2025.

The Nationwide League One has wielded its big stick on ACT di Sports Oyibo FC Lagos, Seamoriow FC Lagos, BISON FC Lagos and FRANCEEX FC Lagos for the misconducts that happened between the teams, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

After the game between ACT di Sports Oyibo FC Lagos and Seamoriow FC Lagos ended 2-9 and BISON FC Lagos and  FRANCEEX FC Lagos ended 0-9, the league body investigated to ascertain any fowl play following the high score results.

The NLO after considering the reports of the officials of the game played on May 27, ruled that the teams committed "gross misconduct and fraud".

The league body stated that it was "convinced beyond any reasonable doubts that there was a compromise."

According to the release, BISON FC that only conceded 7 goals in 8 matches suddenly conceded 9 goals to give Franceex an edge on goals different, despite using the same set of players that executed their previous 8 matches.

On the otherside Seamoriow average goals scored in 8 matches was 2 goals per match but because they want to outwit Franceex FC on goals difference suddenly scored 9 goals in a match.

Consequently, applying the the rules (Article 4.17) as it affects the actions of the culprits, each of the clubs is hereby fined N500,000 each, to be paid to NLO account, all the matches played by the 4 clubs in the current 2025 season are hereby canceled.

Beside, the players and officials that participated in the matches are hereby banned for two years. The names and their pictures shall be released in due course.

The NLO says the Match day 9 encounter between Act Sports di Oyibo and  Seamoriow ended 2-9 Bison and Francexx ended 0-9.

The scrutiny of the matches came after the NLO Secretariat received the officials' match reports of the match day 9 matches that were played simultaneously on the 27th May, 2025, in Lagos.

The league body says that  "The results at the two matches at the centre are going to be subjected to serious scrutiny to determine if there is a match compromise that can bring the game to disrepute due to build-up to the match."

Consequently, the league table for now is suspended pending the decision of the NLO Investigation on the match.

The second goal came over an hour later as Substitute Michael Owoyele doubled Lekki United's lead, beating his marker nicely and slotting it excellently on 80 minutes.

Lekki United defeated the young Tech Boys 0-1 at the Maracana Stadium, Ajegunle, Lagos on Saturday.

The goal came very early in the game courtesy of Olaotan Segbenu after a minute had been played. Segbenu beat his marker nicely and released to Michael Owoyele path who passed into an empty net.

The visitors of the day held on to the lead for the entire duration of the match to end Sporting Lagos's three-match unbeaten run.

It's now four wins out of four for Lekki United with back-to-back clean sheets as they keep top spot of the Maracana Log with 12 points, while Sporting Lagos Football Academy are third with 9 points.

The league body found Sky Limit FC wanting after their match against Dromeda FC.

In a release, the NLO revealed the disturbing occurrence after the match where the match officials were assaulted, in a near-death situation, by the technical bench and all the players of the club.

"The NLO Secretariat was disturbed by the assault and near-death situation on the match officials by the technical bench and all the players of Sky Limit FC in the ongoing 2025 league in the match played between Dromeda FC and Sky Limit FC."

Consequently, breaching the NLO provision of rules and regulations means that a club with violent conduct in a zonal league will be expelled according to the rules of the league.

Sky Limit FC is hereby withdrawn from participating in the league, and their previously earned points shall be deducted, and the team shall be removed from the log.

Sporting Lagos Football Academy made it three over three after beating Chekas FC in their third match of the 2025 Nationwide League One season in Lagos, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The young Tech Boys thumped Chekas 6-0 at the Maracana Stadium on Wednesday to maintain a stellar start to the season.

The encounter remained tight with no goals to report until the 45th minute when Abubakir Ibrahim got his much-deserved goal, after coming close on various attempts.

In the second half, the floodgates of goals were opened as goalscorer turned provider, Abubakir Ibrahim, with a great run on the right to square it for Linus Zika to finish off on 52 minutes.

Linus got his second of the afternoon, smashing his shot into the top corner through Yusuf Abdullahi's after the one-hour mark.

Yusuf Abdullahi buried a swift counter into the bottom corner to make it 4-0 on 64 minutes before Fuhad Ojediran got his share of the spoil after being assisted by Oluebube 10 minutes later.

Chekas were reduced to ten men in the 77th minute, giving the numerical advantage to Sporting Lagos Football Academy, who exploited the more the already weakened side.

Oluebube Ogowuikwu pounced on a loose pass to lob the goalkeeper from yards out, putting the icing on the cake with five minutes left to the end of the encounter.

The Blues put their 2-1 defeat against Ikorodu City Football Academy behind them in the last game to beat The Lord's Favoured FC 4-1 at the Legacy Pitch orchestrated by Taiwo Akire.

Itunnu Olushola headed Gbagada into the lead after 15 minutes of action, but Elijah Ishola restored parity after 39 minutes to end the first half 1-1.

After eight minutes of the second half, the Blues' lead was restored courtesy of a goal from Akire.

He doubled the lead with 5 minutes left to the end of the game before completing his hat-trick in the 88th minute.
