Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen has been shortlisted among the final three nominees for the Men’s Player of the Year award, as the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the top contenders for the 2025 CAF Awards, Nigeriasoccernet.com writes.
His inclusion reflects an outstanding year in which the Nigerian striker consistently delivered high-level performances for both club and country.
The ceremony, set to take place on 19 November 2025 in Rabat, Morocco, will celebrate the most influential figures in African football over the past season. The event remains one of the continent’s most prestigious gatherings, honouring excellence across various aspects of the game.
Osimhen will compete for the top individual honour against two other elite African stars: Mohamed Salah of Egypt and Liverpool, and Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi, who features for Paris Saint-Germain. All three players have enjoyed exceptional campaigns, demonstrating consistency, leadership, and decisive impact in both domestic leagues and international fixtures.
CAF also revealed the top three finalists across several other categories, including Goalkeeper of the Year, Interclub Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, Young Player of the Year, National Team of the Year, and Club of the Year.
In total, seven men’s categories have been confirmed, each spotlighting the leading performers between 6 January and 15 October 2025.
The 2025 CAF Awards aim to acknowledge the finest achievements within African football, honouring individuals and teams whose contributions have significantly shaped both club and national competitions throughout the year.
