Incumbent Kwesi Nyantakyi first to pick momination form for GFA Presidential elections
Incumbent Kwesi Nyantakyi has picked his nomination form to contest the elections for the Ghana FA Presidency, GHANAsoccernet.com can confirm.
The intelligent lawyer becomes the first and only person so far to have picked his form since nominations officially opened on Monday.
An unknown person is said to have picked the form on behalf of Nyantakyi on Monday.
The GFA last week published guidelines towards its upcoming Congress in Tamale on August 17 which will also elect and install a new President for a four-year term.
Persons interested in contesting the elections for the GFA Presidency have up until Thursday to file their nominations.
Aspirants are to have 11 people in good standing – one nominating and the ten others endorsing – to append their signatures to the form before being returned to the GFA before the Thursday deadline.
Aspirants are also to pay a fee of GHS 2000 (a little over $500) when filing their nomination.
Nyantakyi as at now remain the only candidate to have taken the first step towards contesting the GFA elections.
Ghanaian youth team coach Ofeibea Ramatu has served notice she will be challenging Kwesi Nyantakyi at the August 17 Congress but is as at now yet to pick her nomination form.
Nyantakyi has been President of the Ghana Football Association since 2005 and is seeking a fresh four-year term for the third time.
