Rangers technical adviser, Fidelis Ilechukwu, has surprisingly identified Remo Stars as the strongest team in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) this season, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Ilechukwu, a young and respected tactician, also installed the Sky Blue Stars as favorites to win the 2024-25 NPFL title.
Remo Stars currently top the NPFL table with nine points.
"I think the team at the top of the NPFL summit [Remo Stars] are the strongest this season," Ilechukwu said in Lagos.
Rangers, meanwhile, face an uphill battle to retain their title, according to Ilechukwu.
"As for Rangers, we will sit on the fence and wait," he admitted, citing the strengths of Remo Stars, Kano Pillars, Enyimba, and Shooting Stars.
Rangers' Continental exit has further complicated their domestic ambitions.
The Light Blues will face a stern test on Sunday when they travel to Remo Stars Stadium for a matchday four fixture against the league leaders.
Ilechukwu's candid assessment underscores the competitiveness of the NPFL this season.
