Manchester City of England rising star, Kelechi Iheanacho has sent out an appeal to football lovers in Owerri to ensure they lend support to his club during the forthcoming season in the English Premier League.

In his debut season in England, Iheanacho scored eight league goals and made two assists in 26 matches, while also notching another six in other competitions, but he believes he can do much better with prayers and support from Owerri fans.

Iheanacho, who grew up in Owerri and was groomed at Taye Football Academy in the Imo State capital, said during a visit by some young fans from the city to his abode at a popular hotel that his ‘brothers’ should support the club he plays for.

The Citizens’ No. 72 jersey player stated further during the gathering on Friday that he appreciated the goodwill messages and followership that continue trailing his successful breakthrough season in the Premier League.

While noting that Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool are the most supported clubs in Nigeria, Iheanacho said he is happy to see that City are beginning to create an impact among Nigerian soccer followers.

He appealed: “Please come and support Manchester City, I am with Manchester City so everyone should support the club instead of Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea. Owerri fans should show support for their brother. ”
