Nigeria under-17 international Kelechi Nwakali has voiced his desire to play for Arsenal amid reported interest from Chelsea and Liverpool.

The midfielder won the Golden Ball award for the best player at the tournament as Nigeria won the Under-17's World Cup earlier this month, attracting interest from a host of English Premier League clubs, according to reports.

Nwakali said of the interest: "I will love to play for Arsenal. They are the Premier League I will like to play for because they play the best football in the world."

Arsenal failed to recruit any outfield players in the summer transfer window, but could potentially venture into the market in the summer with the contracts of midfielders Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini set to expire at the end of the campaign.

Chelsea, meanwhile, could potentially look to bring in reinforcements in January as the club look to retain their place in the top four after a disastrous start to the campaign.

The Blues have lost seven of their opening 12 games in the league, placing them 16th in the table and handing them the unwanted record of the worst start to a title defence in the history of the Premier League.
