Liberty Professionals coach George Lamptey says he rightly predicted the fame and riches of Asamoah Gyan while he was a youth player at the club.
The 29-year-old is now considered as one of the richest players in Africa due to the reported hefty salary he takes at UAE club Al Ain.
Gyan aside being mega rich, is also an impact player for both club and country.
The Black Stars captain is currently the all-time leading scorer for Ghana with 46 goals while also being the highest scoring African in the history of the World Cup finals with six goals.
George Lamptey says he is not surprised by the riches and fame of the former Sunderland hitman as he predicted his success during his formative years at Liberty.
“I remember I use to tell the likes of Asmaoah Gyan that they will be rich of they continue to work hard during their time with the youth team,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.
“By then the likes of [Michael] Essien and co were playing in Europe and they used to come around in their big cars.
“So I used to tell the young players that look ‘you will drive bigger cars and earn bigger money than these players’.
“I say these to the boys to motivate them to work even harder so they can realize their fullest potential.”
Filthy rich Gyan has a Rolls Royce Phantom, a Bentley, a Range Rover, a Hammer and Porsche Cayenne as part of his fleet of cars in his garage amongst a host of other investments scattered both in his native Ghana and abroad.
He reportedly earns almost $200,000 a week as his wage at UAE club Al Ain.
