Kwesi Nyantakyi believes he’s in the driving seat and on course to be re-elected president of the Ghana Football Association due to his competence and contribution to the rise of the game in the West African country.

The ever-smiling Ghanaian FA leader is up for election this August as he aims to win a third consecutive bid to lead the federation.

His recent appointment by FIFA to amicably resolve the impasse between two rivals groups in Kenya which threatened football in the East African country has soared his image higher.

The highly-respected CAF Executive Committee member is cashing in on the positive publicity and feels confident about his chances of retaining his seat.

“I think I have done well and the case speaks for itself,” he told journalists on arrival at the Kotoko International Airport

“And so, discerning minds will definitely be influenced in deciding who to vote for when Kwesi Nyantakyi is a candidate in the next FA elections.

"It is true a prophet is not accepted in his own land, but those who will be honest know what my competence and contribution to African football has been.”

He is the obvious choice to win the presidency but will be wary of subtle moves being by former spokesman Randy Abbey and former vice-president Fred Pappoe to unseat him, according to media reports in Ghana.
