Governor Obaseki gifts Edo Queens 100 million naira

Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has rewarded the state owned club, Edo Queens who emerged champions of the WAFU-B Women's CAF Champions League, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The governor gave the coaching staff, supporters club and players the sum One hundred million naira for their stellar performance in Cote D'Ivoire.

"Edo woman is that African idol and Edo Queens by the grace of God will be the African champions," Obaseki said.

"I'm here to say thank you. I'm here to say congratulations and to assure that when you bring the African Cup to Edo before I leave office I want tell you what I will do, but for this one you have done, Coach, players, supporters will get 100 million naira."

Edo Queens went unbeaten scoring 17 goals and conceding once to emerge champions of the regional tournament and qualify for the champions league.
