The Nigeria U-17 captain Precious Williams says his predecessors and past winners is enough motivation as the Golden Eaglets plan to win the 2023 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Current Super Eagles stars and famous footballers like Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, Villarreal winger, Samuel Chukwueze, Nottingham Forrest star, Taiwo Awoniyi just to mention few, have at some point played and win the African underage competition for Nigeria.
Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho and Awoniyi were part of the Golden Eaglets squad that came second at the U-17 AFCON in Morocco in 2013.
Osimhen and Chukwueze were key members of the team that won the competition in 2015.
Therefore as the tournament kick off today (Saturday) in Algeria, Williams believes the previous winners and their achievements will hear the team to a great height.
“It is a big encouragement just watching them at the highest level and knowing that they started here at the U17 Cup of Nations. It is a big encouragement for us players that we can make it too,” Williams told CAFonline.
