Stephen Adams, Enoch Adu Kofi and Albert Adomah are the major casualties from the first venomous action by coach Avram Grant as the trio have been dropped from Ghana’s provisional squad for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

Adams who plays for Ghana Premier League club Aduana Stars was unable to make the first cut despite being ranked ahead of the experienced Fatau Dauda during the qualifiers.

Dauda meanwhile makes the squad and is joined by DR Congo-based goalkeeper Ernest Sowah.

They will be joined to compete in the goalkeeping department by Razak Brimah who did not travel to Ghana during the Christmas break.

Enoch Adu Kofi could count himself unlucky after being dropped from the provisional squad despite being one of the most active Ghanaian players in Europe in recent years.

He was unable to upstage any of his competitors in Ghana’s inundated midfield area.

Also excluded from the squad that travels to Spain on Sunday evening to commence camping are Alfred Duncan and Abdul Majeed Waris.

Waris who plays for Turkish club Trabzonspor could however return to the side once he recovers fully in time from injury ahead of the naming of the final squad.

Mahatma Otoo who was reportedly called up in place of Waris has also been dropped as is Ebenezer Assifuah who was also reported to have been handed a late call up.

Avram Grant will be taking a squad of 26 players to his pre-tournament camp in Seville, Spain.

Twenty three players will be traveling from Accra with trio – Andre Ayew, Jeffery Schlupp and Razak Brimah expected to join up with the team in Spain.

Christian Atsu, John Boye and Mubarak Wakaso have joined the team in Accra for the trip to Spain on Sunday night.

The Black Stars will camp in Seville for 10 days and will leave for their base in Mongomo on January 14.

Avram Grant will however need to further prune down his squad to 23 – the required number for the tournament being staged by Equatorial Guinea by January 7.
