Ghanaian striker Ebo Andoh puts himself in window with top display for English side Port Vale
Port Vale manager Rob Page says Enoch Andoh could have a major part to play in his first team if he carries on impressing in pre-season.
The 22-year-old joined the Valiants last November on a free transfer from Limassol. The versatile forward didn't feature in the first team last year, but has shone in Vale's opening two friendlies of the summer - the 3-0 win at Newcastle Town on Saturday and last night's 5-2 victory at Alsager Town.
Andoh came on as a half-time substitute last night and won a penalty for Michael O'Connor to level at 2-2 on 60 minutes, before Andoh produced a terrific finish six minutes later.
Page said the Ghana under-23 international has impressed him and could force his way into the reckoning as a first-team striker.
The manager said the player's potential has been obvious over the last two games.
He added: "I think it has been there for all to see over the last two games. I have always known he has had it in him. But was I brave enough last season to play him, with the pressures that we were under when I took over, with us second from bottom and in a relegation fight?
"Unfortunately for Enoch really it was one of those where you have to go with what you know and players who are proven at that level.
"Now it is totally different. Enoch is on a level playing field. I have told him my thoughts about him and my plans for him.
"He enjoys playing wide left, but I see him more as a front man and I think on both the occasions he has played up top he has looked really good. That's definitely given me food for thought."
Uche Ikpeazu got his first game in a Vale shirt last night after signing on a six-month loan from Watford. Although the 20-year-old didn't score he set up Byron Moore for Vale's first goal.
Vale are back in action tonight when they travel to Kidsgrove Athletic (7.30pm).
