German-born Ghanaian starlet Gideon Jung looks set to seal his place in the Hamburg SV regular first team role for the upcoming 2015/16 German Bundesliga season.

Jung, 20, has fully grabbed his chance and is profiting from the exit of Copa America winner Marcelo Diaz and Jonathan Tah who was sold to Bayer Leverkusen.

The versatile defensive midfielder has already netted twice in eight pre-season games for Bruno Labbadia's men, earning raving reviews among Hamburg fans.

Hamburg initially acquired Jung from lower-tier side Oberhausen and limited him to U23 games last season where he scored once in 23 games.

Labbadia resisted an approach from Kaiserslautern and named the youngster in his squad for the upcoming season, gingering Jung to give off his best at pre-season.

"The coach decides. I simply have to continue to work at full speed, "Jung told MOPO.

"At the moment everything is going great. I got a lot of abilities and I'm ready to exhibit. It's really great thing to be in the squad and be accepted by all and sundry."

Jung reveals he has been looking forward to turning a professional football and is delighted to be on the right path for his career.

"I've never been afraid of turning a professional footballer and football has been my passion since childhood. I'm really happy I'm getting closer to my dreams," he revealed.
