The Ghana FA has rejected a request from Hearts to postpone Wednesday's Premier League game against Ashantigold, and the game will go ahead as scheduled.

The Phobians asked for a postponement of the top-of-the-bill clash to enable them prepare adequately for their CAF Confederation Cup return leg against Malian side Djoliba on Sunday.

But the Ghana FA has refused the request insisting the match will go on as planned.

“We made a request to the GFA to declare our game against AshGold on Wednesday as an outstanding match to afford us to prepare well for the game against Djoliba,” Hearts spokesman Muheeb Saeed said

“We took into consideration the fatigue factor in making a return trip from Obausi – meaning, we will actually have just Friday and Saturday to recover to face Djoliba.

“But the GFA rejected this request and therefore we have no other choice but to honour the match on Wednesday.”

Hearts fear the long distance from Obuasi could affect the team ahead of the return fixture.

But with a commanding 2-1 lead from the first leg, the Ghana FA decided to reject their request.

The former African champions are Ghana’s only surviving team in Africa’s inter club competition this year.
