Ghana qualified to the first knockout stage as winners of their group and also boasting an unbeaten run so far.

Sellas Tetteh’s side now face Mali in the Round of 16 in a repeat of their group stage meeting at the 2015 Africa Youth Championships where Mali reigned supreme.

But the GFA is confident the Black Satellites will come up tops this time due to the improvements made to the team.

“A lot has changed since then and that bodes well for us,” GFA spokesman Ibrahim Sannie-Daara said.

“The team has been infused with players like [Godfred] Donsah and the defence has also been tightened up.”
