Ghana defender Samuel Inkoom has hailed coach Bashir Hayford as the biggest influence on his career.

The 26-year-old says the Ashantigold trainer has been key to his development as a player for both club and country.

The Boavista new signing paid tribute to Hayford’s input into his career, saying: I don’t call him (Bashir Hayford) a coach, I call him a father,” he told Accra-based radio station Starr FM

“He helped me a lot and I will forever remain grateful to him. He is my father. He did a lot for me during my time with him at Kotoko.

“I was staying in his house alongside Francis Coffie (former Kotoko teammate) and he has been the biggest influence on my career so far.

“He gave me the opportunity and the breakthrough at Kotoko and for me I will never forget what he has done for me.”

Inkoom enjoyed a fabulous run under Hayford during his stay with Kotoko in 2008 which earned him a place in Ghana’s World conquering Under-20 team in 2009.
