Ghana defender Daniel Opare is a doubt for Besiktas’ Europa League clash against Liverpool after being ruled out for two weeks with an injury.

The 24-year-old picked up a first degree hamstring in his left leg during his side’s stalemate against Caykur Rizespor in the Turkish Cup.

Besiktas have confirmed the Ghanaian international will require a minimum of two weeks to recover before returning to the pitch.

The news is a massive blow to the side who were hoping to count on the experience of the former Standard Liege defender ahead of their Europa League clash against English giants Liverpool over February 19 and 26.

Recent injuries have hampered the player’s progress as a similar fate prevented him from breaking into the Porto squad when he joined from Belgian side Standard Liege.

He missed out on Ghana’s squad for the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations due to the setback.
