Ghana defender Awal Mohammed is likely to miss the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations finals against Côte d'Ivoire having been hit with a bout of Malaria.

The 26-year-old sat out the team's final training session on Saturday evening.

There is no official word yet from the Ghana medical team through the GFA's communications division on the health status of the defender.

But all signals suggests the new Al Shabab FC center half will miss Sunday's clash against Ivory Coast.

Mohammed has not played for the Black Stars at the 2015 AFCON since featuring in the opening group defeat to Senegal.

Ghana hopes to end an over three-decade trophy drought by beating Ivory Coast in the finals to be played in Bata on Sunday.
