Fullkrug plays down apparent frustration after Werder substitution

Germany and Werder forward Niclas Fullkrug has explained his reaction to being substituted during the Bundesliga match against Mainz.

Fullkrug was taken off in the 81st minute, and journalists suggested he did not appear entirely happy as he left the pitch.

However, the 33-year-old acknowledged with a smile that there may simply not have been an ideal moment for the change.

Fullkrug currently leads the Bundesliga’s scoring chart with eight goals.
