Forget Brazil World Cup fiasco and support Black Stars to win AFCON- Ghana President Mahama tells fans
Ghana President John Mahama wants fans to forget about the disgraceful World Cup campaign and rally behind the Black Stars at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations.
In Brazil, players threatened to boycott their final Group match against Portugal until their appearance fees were paid.
The Ghana government flew cash of US$ 3 million to pay the player a night before the match and the Black Stars got kicked out at the group stage.
A lot has happened since then and the team will be contesting the Nations Cup trophy in Equatorial Guinea when the tournament starts on 17 January.
President Mahama wants all that forgotten and efforts channeled through Ghana ending her trophy drought.
“The whole Ghana knows what happened in Brazil and I will urge Ghanaians to put that behind them and rally behind the team no matter what,” Mahama said on Angel FM.
“It’s about time we support our own Black Stars and make sure they do well in the upcoming African Cup of Nations.”
