Arthur Avom’s impressive performances for FC Lorient have attracted interest from Fenerbahce, with the Turkish club preparing an offer of about 10 million euros for the Cameroon international.
The 21-year-old midfielder has rejected a contract extension proposed by Lorient’s directors as he seeks to take the next step in his development. His current deal with the French club runs until June 2027.
That decision has forced Lorient to reassess Avom’s future, particularly with Fenerbahce showing concrete interest in signing him. The Turkish club are looking to strengthen their midfield and are keen to complete a deal during the winter transfer window, according to Fanatik.
Fenerbahce seek favourable deal
Fenerbahce want to bring Avom to Istanbul while keeping the cost of the transfer under control. Their planned bid of 10 million euros would give Lorient a significant decision to make over the midfielder’s immediate future.
Lorient could consider accepting a substantial fee during the winter rather than retaining a player who has declined to extend his contract. Avom is currently valued at 20 million euros.
Fenerbahce, meanwhile, are seeking to recruit the Cameroon international on financially favourable terms. The player, who was born in Yaounde, is the subject of growing interest following his displays for Lorient.
Avom’s situation has therefore become uncertain despite the length of his existing contract. His refusal to sign an extension, combined with Fenerbahce’s interest, has opened the possibility of a departure before the end of the season.
Lorient face Paris FC
Before any transfer decision is made, FC Lorient are due to play Paris FC in their sixth match of the French championship.
The listed match odds are 3.25 for a Lorient victory, 3.40 for a draw and 2.20 for a Paris FC win.
