An impressive first half display, capped with four goals, enabled Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan beat hard fighting Adamimogo FC of Akure 4-3 in a 2023 Federation Cup Round of 64 tie.
In the encounter decided at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, the church team shockingly opened scoring in the 11th minutes of the game.
The Oluyole Warriors, thereafter, took charge of the game and were rewarded with three goals within five minutes.
First, it was Ajani Ibrahim who restored parity in the 22nd minutes, after which Samuel Ayanrinde bagged a brace, scoring in the 24th and 26th minutes before Damala Promise added the fourth in the added minute of the first half.
Despite starting the second half on a promising note, the Oluyole Warriors would later be stretched to the limit by the church team, who scored two goals towards the end of the game, thus ensuring a nervy end to the tie.
The Ibadan soccer lords have thus, qualified for the next stage of the competition.
Meanwhile, the team will depart Lagos on Thursday morning for a trip to Jos, to keep a date with relegation threatened Nasarawa United in a NPFL Matchday 16 fixture.
