Portuguese top-flight side Boavista FC have terminated the contract of ex-Ghana international Quincy Owusu-Abeyie over inconsistent performance, GHANAsoccernet.com can confirm.

Boavista have confirmed on their website the decision to cancel the contract was mutual but reveal the request emanated from the former Arsenal star.

The 28-year-old joined Boavista after leaving Greek giants Panathinaikos at the end of last season but failed to impose his one-time impressive form at the club, starting just five league games and failing to score a single goal.

Quincy, who is an ex-Dutch youth star is linked with a move to an unnamed Latvian outfit.

Many football talent watchers have expressed surprise at the sharp decline of Quincy's talent as he was regarded as one of the best young players during his time with the Dutch U20 side.

After joining Arsenal as a youth team player from Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam, Quincy has gone ahead to play for nine different clubs and his reported latest move to Latvia will be his tenth - a journeyed man.
