Former Ghana youth striker Kwame Karikari Amponsah has joined Swedish top-flight side Halmstad BK on a two-year deal, GHANASoccernet.com can exclusively report.

The 23-year-old moves from fellow Swedish top-flight side AIK Stockholm where he has been a player since 2011 but had to be sent out on loan twice.

First to Swedish lower division side to Degerfors and then Turkish second-tier side Balikesirspor where his 11 goals in 23 matches helped them qualify.

The former Ghana U20 player was close to signed for Turkish second-tier side Samsunspor but he opted to remain in the Scandinavian country.

“I do not know very much about HBK, but it really felt like the right choice when they heard of him. Here I will be developed,” the lanky striker told the club’s official website.

“I wanted to stay in Sweden and make a good career in Halmstad. It feels great to have taken the decision so early, so I can come here, get to know everyone and start working hard.”
