Kotoko have rejected a $10,000 loan deal from Lebanese side Al-Ansar SC for midfielder Michael Akuffo which has left the player distraught, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The 29-year-old arrived in his native country moments ago (Thursday) after his club ordered him to return following a breakdown in negotiation, Ghana’s leading football website, www.GHANASoccernet.com can confirm.

The Ghanaian champions are demanding for a higher fee for the man who has demonstrated incredible commitment to the club since he joined from WAFA four years ago.

Akuffo is distraught and upset over the decision of the club to cancel the deal as he feels betrayed following his long service to the club.

It was widely reported that the intelligent midfielder had signed a three-year deal with the Beirut-based club but has now turned out to be loan deal which has been flatly rejected over financial issues.

The Western Asia side has given the player up till Saturday to sort out the issue with his club before deciding on their next line of action.

With concerns over the player’s age, Akuffo fears the club could decide against signing him in an episode which has infuriated the former WAFA trainee.

Akuffo signed a one-year extension with Kotoko this year with the view of helping the club to cash in on a potential move abroad but feels he’s been betrayed and given a raw deal by his employers.
