Kano Pillars head coach Evans Ogenyi praised his players’ spirit despite a 1-0 defeat to Abia Warriors in Umuahia, reports Nigeriasoccernet.com.
He admitted the result was disappointing but found positives in the performance.
“The team is gelling well, and you must remember that there is no perfect team anywhere in the world,” Ogenyi said.
He added: “We’ve seen both positives and negatives from today’s game, and we will go back, prepare, and approach the next match with even greater determination.”
The coach also addressed why Ahmed Musa played the full 90 minutes.
“Musa’s international status is a big motivational factor for the younger players,” he explained.
Ogenyi praised Musa’s intelligence and influence on the squad.
“He’s a footballer who plays with his brain, and we kept him on the pitch for a reason,” he noted.
He stressed that beyond Musa’s touches, his psychological impact was immense.
“I believe he still has plenty to offer at the highest level,” Ogenyi added.
Pillars now shift focus to their next home clash against Wikki Tourists at the Sani Abacha Stadium.
