English Premier League side Everton are in talks to sign Nigerian forward Samuel Chukwueze, according to a scout close to the deal.

Chukwueze has only just returned to his homeland after helping Nigeria win the Under-17 World Cup in Chile – scoring three goals and bagging three assists in seven games.

But it appears Everton haven’t wasted any time in looking to snap him up, with top scout Ifeanyi Elegbua Igwenjoku revealing he’s been involved in discussions with the Toffees, along with two other clubs.

‘Three clubs have enquired from my partners in Europe about Samuel Chukwueze,’ he told CompleteSportsNigeria.com.

‘The clubs are Everton from the English Premier League as well as Malaga in Spain and Red Bull Salzburg in Austria. ‘We hope to get the best deal for Samuel. He is still a young player so we need to be sure that whichever club he ends up signing for is in his best interest.’

Chukwueze, like many from that U17 Nigeria squad, is expected to complete a move to a new club in the January transfer window.
