Super Eagles interim coach, Samson Siasia has not hidden his strong wish to have former team captain, Vincent Enyeama, back in the national team, especially at this period that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is looking to ensure that absolute peace returns to the ranks of the Super Eagles ahead of the back-to-back AFCON crackers against the Pharaohs of Egypt.
The NFF has barely recovered from the surprise resignation of former Eagles coach, SundayOliseh, with less than one month to the first game against Egypt, billed for March 25 in Kaduna.
Siasia yesterday explained steps he had taken to convince both Enyeama and Emmanuel Emenike, who were frustrated out of the team by former coach Oiliseh to return to the national team.
He said that the players’ wealth of experience is what the Super Eagles would need to win the Pharaohs.
However, Siasia explained that though Enyeama would want to return to the Super Eagles, he requested to be left out for now, stressing that he is still emotionally down over the treatment that was meted out to him by the NFF and former coach Oliseh while the team was in Belgium for some friendly matches.
“I called Enyeama a couple of days ago, when they asked us to come and handle these two games, I told him how I needed him for the games and I wanted him to come back and be a part of this team. He explained to me how he was treated by the NFF and Oliseh. He explained how he drove from Lille to Belgium to meet the coach after his mum’s burial and was totally embarrassed with harsh words and taking the captain’s band away from him.
“He told me he would have wanted to play for me, but emotionally he is still down and has not gotten over that treatment from the former coach.
