Emmanuel Dennis fires blank for Watford against Southampton as Joe Aribo's comes out top in 'battle of Nigerians'

In an evenly contested tie in the EFL Championship between Southampton FC and Watford FC dubbed the battle of Nigerians between Super Eagles international duo of Joe Aribo and Emmanuel Dennis, one had to come up top and Southampton's Aribo saw his side seal all three points in the five goals thriller, Nigeriasoccernet.com writes.

Dennis whose goal has been instrumental so far this season to Hornets saw Watford conced in the 99th minute to fall to a 3-2 defeat away at promotion-chasing Southampton despite initially responding from being two goals down.

Aribo's Southampton knew only a win would truly reignite their feint hopes of automatic promotion, and went close through Armstrong and Jan Bednarek, with the latter's header deflected behind for a corner in the seventh minute of stoppage time.

The result sees Watford sit 15th in the Sky Bet Championship while Southampton move up to 4th after amassing 81 points in 41 games.
