Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi played 13 minutes for Fulham in their Carabao Cup Round 3 match against Preston North End, which ended in a dramatic penalty shootout, Nigeriasoccernet.com can report.

Despite a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes, Preston North End clinched a narrow victory, winning 16-15 in the tense penalty shootout.

Having two Nigerians on the bench, Fulham introduced Alex Iwobi to the game in the 77th minute of the encounter with the scores level, leaving Bassey unused for the entire duration.

Preston North End took the lead in the 35th minute with a goal from Ryan Ledson, but Fulham equalized through Reiss Nelson in the 61st minute. During the penalty shootout, Iwobi successfully converted his penalty, but Fulham's Jorge Cuenca and Timothy Castagne missed their attempts.

Meanwhile, at Goodison Park, Joe Aribo was involved in Southampton’s match against Everton, which also required a penalty shootout to determine the winner.

After a 1-1 draw in regular time, Southampton won 6-5 in the shootout. Aribo scored his penalty, but in sudden death, Ashley Young missed his spot kick for Everton, while James Bree successfully converted his penalty for Southampton, securing their place in the next round.
