Edwin Gyasi: Ghanaian attacker's goal helps Roda JC to eliminate giants PSV Eindhoven from Dutch Cup
Dutch-born Ghanaian attacker Edwin Gyasi is performing early heroics at Roda JC as he scored to help the second-tier side eliminate giants PSV Eindhoven from the Dutch Cup.
Gyasi had scored in the 74th minute to Roda 2-1 ahead but the giants levelled through Luuk de Jong who had earlier in the 17th minute restored parity for the visitors.
Gyasi's goal was a moment of true genius and inspiration for his side as he darted through the defence of PSV to latch on to a from Faik - the eventual match-winner getter, before spotting the weakness in the goalkeeper's positioning and sending an intelligent drive home.
PSV, with half-Ghanaian attacker Memphis Depay in action tried to work themselves back into the game and did equalise but home side won the match in extra-time and progressed.
Gyasi, 23, was at Heracles Almelo in the Dutch top-flight but failure to secure regular playing time at the club forced him to exit to a destination where he will be able to secure regular action.
And thus his movement to Heracles as soon as the winter transfer window opened.
