The Mysterious club posted a narrow 1-0 win Samosa FC on Sunday to open a nine point lead at the summit of Zone 2 with three games to spare.

The Cape Coast-based side have impressed heavily in the country’s second-tier league, bagging 66 points from 27 games.

The two teams have been neck-to-neck in the race for the sole ticket available in the zone but it appears the dreams of Elmina Sharks have been quashed following their 1-0 defeat at Samartex.

Sharks president Papa Kwesi Nduom had vowed his club will qualify at ‘all cost’ at the expense of their growing rivals but with Dwarfs just within a point of securing qualification, the club’s respected president Nana Aidoo has taunted the ambition of the 2012 Presidential Candidate of the opposition Progressive People’s Party.

“We are firmly on the ground and I believe qualification is already in the bag,” he told Accra-based Peace FM

“I told you we’ll teach Papa Kwesi Nduom a bitter soccer lesson. We have been in this game for long and we know how the game is played.

“Despite all the noise, we have shown that we know what it takes to qualify to the Premier League.”

Dwarfs require only a point from their remaining three games to return to the top-flight, just a year after being relegated.

The well-respected business magnate and chief financier of the club has been credited for the revival of the team and continues to earn plaudits for his selfless service to the traditional side.
