Ebony Shoe: Rwanda’s Ndayishimiye awarded the best African Football in Belgium

KRC Genk midfielder, Mike Tresor Ndayishimiye has beaten both Nigeria internationals, Victor Boniface and Gift Orban to the 2022/2023 Ebony Shoe award, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The trophy, commonly known as Soulier d’Ebene, is awarded annually to the best African footballer or footballer of African origin featuring in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League.

Rwandan midfielder, Ndayishimiye was in the race for the top accolade alongside club teammates Joseph Paintsil from Ghana, El Khannouss from Morocco the Nigerian duo of Boniface and Orban who play for Union Saint Gilloise and Gent respectively.

Both Boniface and Orban have had an impressive season with Boniface registering 22 goals while dishing out 11 assists for his team, and Orban, who scoring 20 goals in 19 appearances for KAA Gent this season.

Ndayishimiye as well, has been in electric form for Genk this campaign, providing an incredible 23 assists in 35 games and scoring 8 goals.

Ndayishimiye has played for Belgium at U21 level but he is still eligible to play for the country of his parents.
