Dutch legend Patrick Kluivert has revealed the real reason for snubbing the opportunity to coach Ghana insisting that he had the feeling that taking up the Black Stars coach job 'isn't good', GHANAsoccernet.com can reveal.

The former Barcelona star turned down the opportunity to coach the four-time African champions claiming then that his wife was unwell and would be unreasonable for him to take up the job.

The ex-striker, who also made his name playing for Ajax Amsterdam, was among the high profile names who applied for the post when Kwesi Appiah was fired.

Kluivert was considered among the front runners until he shockingly pulled out the race before Avram Grant was appointed to take charge of the African giants.

After snubbing Ghana, the former Dutch international has shockingly accepted the job of being a coaching advisor for the tiny Caribbean island of Curaçao who are unknown to the football world.

Kluivert says he turned down the opportunity to ccoach Ghana because he had a bad feeling about it.

“I had offers from some clubs after that, and also the Ghana national team." the Ajax and Dutch legend is currently a coaching advisor for the Caribbean island of Curaçao revealed.

“But I’m a sensitive person and if the feeling isn’t good I’m not doing it.

"The feeling I had about working with the people here on the island was very good and that was the most important thing when making my decision.”

Since turning down the job to coach Ghana, the Black Stars have impressed by reaching the final of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations under Avram Grant.

 

As a player, Kluivert played as a striker for Ajax, Milan, FC Barcelona, Newcastle United, Valencia, PSV Eindhoven, and Lille.

He began his coaching career as an assistant coach for AZ and then NEC, before coaching Jong FC Twente to a national title in the reserves league.

He was the assistant manager to Louis van Gaal, for the Netherlands national football team, in their third place finish at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Part of Ajax's golden generation of the 1990s, aged 18, Kluivert scored the winner in the 1995 UEFA Champions League Final.

He spent six years with Spanish club Barcelona where he formed a successful partnership with Rivaldo, and won the 1998 and 1999 Spanish La Liga championship and the 1998 Copa del Rey.
