Kwara United Coach, Audu Azeez has praised his team following their win in the CAF Confederation Cup against defending Champions RS Berkane.

The Afonja Warriors cane from a goal down to achieve a remarkable 3-1 victory against the Moroccan giants last Sunday.

 

As a result, a delighted Azeze has appreciated the resilience and fighting spirit in their first leg of the second preliminary round.

 

"It was a thing of joy as kwara United FC came from behind to secure victory. My boys were so determined for victory and they fought without relenting.

 

We knew it will be a difficult match, playing against the defending champion and African league champion, but our determination was to fight and showcase our best skills without disappointing our fans.

We had our plans and we stuck to it. Though it was not easy at the first half of play, but were able to build our confidence back in the second half of the game. My boys came out stronger, played to instructions, which resulted to much pressure for the Berkane of Morocco to withstand as they conceded three goals within the limited time remaining."

 

The tactician disclosed however that the tie is not over, there is a lot to play for, but his team will not disappoint.

 

"We know it's not over yet, we still have a long way to go, but we assure our supporters and Football fans never to relent in their prayers and supports as we assure them of more commitment ahead of the second leg in Morocco."

 

Azeez went ahead to thank the kwara State government, Sports commission, Kwara United Chairman, the team management, the players, Supporters Club, Fans and everyone who as contributed to the success of the team.
