Atsu, on loan from Chelsea, started the game and lasted till the 65th minute when he was replaced by Leon Osman at the NSK Olimpiyskyi in Kyiv as Dinamo Kyiv hammered the Toffees 5-2 and progressed 6-4 at their expense.

The game sums up a bad campaign for English clubs in Uefa competition this season as no English sides in the quarter-finals of any UEFA club competiton for the first time since 1992/93.

Everton went into the tie with a 2-1 lead against the Ukrainians and Roberto Martinez and his side went into the game with high hopes as Atsu was handed a starting spot.

But the host managed a big win to kick out the Toffees from the competition.

Atsu has enjoyed a good run of action for Everton since returning from injury, playing part in their last three games in all competitions.
