Abia Warriors and Super Eagles striker Chisom Chikatara is excited following the qualification of Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca to the group stages of the CAF Champions League at the expense of champions TP Mazembe.

Title-holders TP Mazembe were eliminated from the CAF Champions League on Wednesday after drawing 1-1 at home to Wydad Casablanca of Morocco.

The result, coupled with a 2-0 last 16 first leg loss in North Africa, meant the five-time champions lost 3-1 on aggregate and were demoted to the CAF Confederation Cup.

The Nigerian star at the 2016 African Nations Championship in Rwanda in January also expressed excitement at seeing two-time CAF Champions League winners  Enyimba reach the group stage after defeating Etoile du Sahel.

"Congratulations to Wydad Casablanca. I'm happy to be presented with the chance to play with them in the group stages of the Champions League," Chikatara told Completesportsnigeria.com on Thursday.

"I'm with Abia Warriors at the moment with an agreement to return to Wydad next season. By the grace of God, everything will go as planned.

"At the moment, I'm concentrating on my duties at Abia Warriors. I've scored three goals in five matches and there's more hopefully. I will return to Wydad between June and July.

"I was also happy for Enyimba as Nigeria's representatives. Everybody was tense when Etoile made it 3-0 on aggregate, but thankfully they made it.

"I look forward to playing against Enyimba in the group stages. It could happen, you never know. I will exchange jerseys with Peter Onyekachi."

The draw for the group stages of the CAF Champions League group stages will hold on May 24 in Cairo, Egypt.
