CHAN 2024: Kenyatta International Convention Centre to host draws

The TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 draw is set to host top dignitaries across the continent which is set to take place at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (“KICC”) in Nairobi, Kenya  Wednesday night, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

As revealed, the draw ceremony will feature a touch of local East African flair with legends Hassan Wasswa (Uganda), Mrisho Ngasa (Tanzania), and McDonald Mariga (Kenya) serving as draw assistants. This marks Kenya's debut appearance as hosts, while Uganda and Tanzania bring their past tournament experiences to the stage.

Defending champions Senegal and two-time winners Morocco are among the prominent nations awaiting their fate at the draw. The 32-story Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) provides a fitting backdrop for this prestigious event.

This iconic architectural landmark, renowned for its cylindrical design and panoramic city views, boasts an amphitheater and the Tsavo Ballroom, the largest conference chamber in East Africa. Completed in 1973, the KICC symbolizes Kenya's modernity and cultural heritage, making it an ideal venue for the nation's first-ever hosting of a continental football tournament.

Nairobi, a major commercial hub and a center for tech innovation, is home to several multinational companies and renowned football clubs like Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards, Tusker, and Mathare United, adding a vibrant sporting dimension to the city.
