Edo Queens are back to the top of the group B of the 2022/2023 Nigeria Women's Football League NWFL Premiership after beating Robo Queens on Wednesday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Godwin Aduku side ended the 4-match unbeaten run of the Lagos Landladies after a two nil win at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

A goal in each half of the encounter secured a significant win for the Edo giants.

Yetunde Fajobi scored first in the 22nd minute to put the Hosts in the lead while Suliat Abideen consolidated victory in the 63rd minute of the game.

The win returns Edo Queens to the zenith of the league group B standings after ten matches with a point ahead of second place Confluence Queens.

Former Lobi Stars defender, Aniyikaye Olamilekan Adeleye has moved to Shooting Stars Sporting Club (3SC) of Ibadan from Al-Merrikh of Sudan, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The former Super Eagles defender joined the Oluyole Warriors for the remainder of the 2022/2023 season for an undisclosed fee according to multiple reports.

Olamilekan joined Al-Merrikh in February 2021 from Lobi Stars of Makurdi for a 2-year stint.

The Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL has sanctioned Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) for the inappropriate act of one of their fans in their match day 9 encounter against Akwa United on Sunday, Nigeriasoccernet.com can report.

The IMC in a letter signed by the Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi informed the Ibadan based club of their breach of  framework C.1.1 and framework C9 of the league.

The  first mentioned framework finds the club's commandant, Auwal Mohammed culpable for urinating on the pitch before the commencement of the match; an act considered to bring the game to disrepute.

Besides, the club was also found wanting for not doing the needful to curb such act by the club's commandant which was done in the public glare.

Hence, the club was fined the sum of #500,000 naira and a one year suspension was given to Auwal Mohammed from league matches. Besides, the committee ruled that the club should ensure such an act does not happen again.

After 90 minutes, it was Plateau United of Jos 3-3 Shooting Stars Sport Club of Ibadan in a pulsating Match Day 1 Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL encounter at the New Jos Stadium.

A match with high expectations judging by the pedigree of the two coaches at the dugout, it lived up to it billing as Gbenga Ogiunbote almost went home with all points at Fidelis Ilechukwu's expense.

The two sides wasted no time to give the fans something to cheer as Akpan Joshua opened score for the visitors with a nice header in the 6th minute.

As the Peace Boys responded instantly throug Ifeanyi Emmanuel who equalled score with a fine finish two minutes later.

Okachi Anthony benefited from a fine assist from the boots of Onukwube Samuel to make 2-1 in favour of the Ibadan Boys in the 15th minute.

It was advantage 3SC as the first half ended 1-2 with Ogiunbote's Boys going into the tunnel with the momentum.

The early part of the second half saw Onukwube Samuel missed a one on one chance to increase the tally for Shooting Stars.

Thereafter, the home side piled the pressure, but it was the Warriors that will score in the 65th minute to increase the goal tally to two.

Substitute Akintunde Azeez capitalised on an error from Plateau Utd goalkeeper to score in an empty net.

However, that was a signal to the dramatic finish we saw as Izuchukwu Chimeze with a superb finish pulled one back for the home team in the 73rd minute.

Defender Ifeanyi Emmanuel with goal in the 82nd minute sent the home crowd into a frenzy as he restored parity leaving the remaining minutes of the game delicately poised.

The match ended that way as the two teams share a point each in a game that will not be forgotten in a hurry.

Shooting  Stars of Ibadan are not leaving any stone unturned with their acquisition of new players to fortify their squad ahead of the 2022/2023 season.

On Thursday, the NPFL Super cup Pre Season tournament champions unveiled experienced striker, Sikiru Alimi and his brother, defender Adebayo Alimi.

As the start for the 2022/2023 Nigeria Professional Football League  season builds momentum, Shooting Stars player, Ifeanyi Ihemekwele has disclosed his readiness to help his side do well in the league.

The striker who moved from Ijebu United spoke with sport247.com on his plans and aspirations as the league commencement draws near.

“It feels good to be here despite the challenges going on, they make my stay worthwhile and good here in this club,” Ihemekwele said

“I wish to play at the highest level this season, give the best of me to the club so as to achieve our objectives as this season gets ahead in few days,” Ifeanyi confessed.

“I will do my best, do well to help the team anytime I have the opportunity as we both work together to achieve a common goal both as an individual and a team at large.”

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan Chairman, Babatunde Olaniyan has disclosed the intent of the club going into the 2023 NPFL season after the draws were made last Wednesday.

The sports administrator whose side had emerged champion at the NPFL preseason Super 4 tournament has disclosed how the club's seek to achieve their goal of winning the trophy.

Olaniyan revealed the club will pay the players' immediately after each away win just like they did with the Super 4 to serve as a moral booster.

“It (the draws) is just like any other draw and It’s normal. We will approach it with all seriousness,” the former lawmaker told Tribune Sports.

“What the management is trying to do is that the moment we are going for away games, we will make sure we arrange their match bonuses and allowances and as they are winning their games, they get their bonuses. This will be a moral booster for the players.

“This we have been doing before now. We did it during the Super 4 in Lagos and that is the way we will continue to do it. When they win their matches home or away, they get their bonuses instantly.

“I’m sure they will always want to collect their bonuses and keep their salaries. Continental ticket is our target this season and we are going to work on it.”

Oluyole Warriors were drawn A in quiet a competitive group with the likes of Nasarawa United, Plateau United, El-Kanemi Warriors, Gombe United, Enyimba International FC, Remo Stars, Akwa United, Kwara United, and Bendel Insurance.

They have their first date with Plateau United on the 8th of January when the Nigeria Professional Football League kicks off.

About a week a go we, nigeriasoccernet.com announced that experienced striker Sikiru Alimi will he reuniting with his former gaffer at Remo Stars.

Yes, that happened, but we can report that Skiru came with his brother Adebayo Alimi, a former defender at MFM FC.

Consequently, the two brothers will team up with the Oluyole Warriors as the 2022/2023 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) is set to kick off in no distant time.

Skiru, a former Lobi Stars forward had moved to Darnes Derna SC in Libya, but following the expiration of his contract he returned to Nigeria.

He also played for Remo Stars last season where he scored nine goals in fifteen league matches. He played in Tunisia too for Stade Tunisien.

While the news of Adebayo who terminated is contract with relegated MFM is just been made known, he played for Shooting Stars in their triumph over Enyimba last week in the NPFL Dozy Mmbousi Super Cup Preseason tournament.

The Alimis join the company of brothers who have featured in the NPFL club like the Olisemas, Gatas, Obajes and the Okoros.

The management of the Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, wishes to clear the air on the prize money of the just concluded NPFL/Doxy Mmobuosi Super Cup Football Tournament.

Contrary to the belief that 3SC got the whole 100,000,000 naira, being the winner of the 4-team tourney, we wish to state that the club only got 50,000,000 naira as the champions.

We will like to inform all that the organisers actually doled out 100,000,000 naira to the club, as seen in the check presented to the Oluyole Warriors’.

However, there was a mutual agreement between the four participating clubs, prior to the commencement of the tourney, that whoever emerges the winner, will part with fifty percent of the money, to be shared by the other three teams.

This was done in the spirit of sportsmanship and also to douse the tension which could attend the tourney if it were to be a winner takes all situation and to ensure that all the participating teams have something to take home, no matter how small.

A memorandum of understanding was signed by the four clubs to back up the agreement.

Based on this, Shooting Stars, who won the tourney got 50,000,000 naira, the first runner-up, Enyimba FC got 25,000,000 naira, while third placed Bendel Insurance and fourth placed Rangers International got 15,000,000 naira and 10,000,000 naira respectively.

This was purely an arrangement between the four clubs, outside that of the organisers, hence the presentation of 100,000,000 naira check to Shooting Stars after the final match.

Shooting Stars of Ibadan are the winners of the lucrative NPFL preseason tournament Super Cup after beating Enyimba in the final on Friday at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium, Onikan, Lagos.

The Oluyole Warriors came back twice in the game to win a nail-biting encounter  3-2.

It was Enyimba who were in cruise control as they ignited play with an early goal in the 6th minute.

Fatai Abdullahi's free kick came off the wall leaving Goalkeeper Bamidele sprawling to give Enyimba the lead.

Malomo Taofeek restored parity for the boys from Ibadan in the 16th minutes to increase the intensity of the game.

Enyimba got back their lead in the 30th minute as Eze Ekwutoziam finished off a follow-up after goalkeeper Bamidele palmed away Mbaoma's initial effort at goal.

In the second half, the 3SC rallied back to equal score for the second time as Kelly Kester curls the ball well to beat goalkeeper Noble in the 60th minute.

Despite Enyimba's press to score chance after chance, it was the Warriors that got the shocker as Anthony Okachi scored the third goal for 3SC in the 85th minute.

It ended that way as Shooting Stars emerge champions of the maiden edition of the tournament and carting home 100m cash prize.

Shooting Stars Antjony Okachi was voted the best player of the tournament.

Shooting Stars started their outing in the NPFL sanctioned preseason tournament Super Cup organised by the Dozy Mmobuosi Foundation on an emphatic win.

The Oluyole Boys trounced the Benin Arsenal by three goals to nil at the Remo Stars Stadium on Tuesday.

First half goal by Anthony Okachi and late second half goals by Taofeek Malomo and Samuel Ayorinde condemned Insurance to defeat.

Okachi had put 3SC ahead after a well worked counter attack through an assist by Joshua Akpan in the 25th minute.

The half ended that way despite Insurance's push for an equaliser.

However, the Benin Boys would later rue missed chances in the second half after Malomo scored the second for 3SC.

Ayorinde added salt to injury after scoring the third at additional time to put the game beyond Insurance.

Shooting Stars Cletus Emotan was adjudged the Most Valuable Player in the match against Shooting Stars.

Insurance play Enyimba next on Wednesday in their next game.

Bayelsa Queens Coach, Domo Okara has decried the missed opportunities of his team following their 1-2 loss in the opening game of the group stage of the Women's CAF Champions League.

The Nigeria representatives lost to defending champions, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies of South Africa in their maiden participation on Tuesday Morocco.

However, it would have perhaps been a different score line if the Property Girls had been more clinical and that Okara feels was their undoing.

Substitute Mary-Magdalene Anjor scored the first goal conceded by Mamelodi Sundowns in the competition in the match.

“We gave our best but it was not good enough,” Okara told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday.

"The South African team are a good team. Tactically, they are very sound. Though we threw away our chances in the first 20 minutes, but we should have wrapped up the game, maybe leading by two or three goals.

Defensive mastero, Uche Ezeala has completed his move to Niger Tornadoes from 3SC.

The centre defender's deal was sealed on deadline day and he has done his medical to concretized the move.

Ezeala has also penned a farewell message to confirm his movement to the Ikon Allah side.

Remo Stars have emerged winner of the Optima Energy Gold Cup after edging pass Shooting Stars (3SC) on Saturday.

The Okenna base team defeated the team from Ibadan on penalties after a goalless affair in 90 minutes.

A final indeed it was as the two South West teams went head to head to outwit the other.

On the balance of things, Remo Stars could have gotten the victory within the regulation time, but decent goalkeeping from Bamidele forced tbe tie to penalties.

Cometh the hour, cometh goalkeeper Vincent Edafe who was Remo Stars lifeline to retaining the title.

Edafe saved two spot kicks of the Oluyule Warriors to ensure the Sky Blue Stars victory.

The triumph comes with a One Million Naira prize money and a beautiful gold-plated trophy for Remo Stars while 3SC was rewarded with half a million Na.
