Oluwaseun who scored twice in his side's 4-2 win in the semi finals over El Kanemi Warriors, is optimistic he and his teammates will defend the title they won last year.

Akanji Oluwaseun after scoring twice to help his team into consecutive finals spoke of what the fans should expect when they play Mees Palace Football Academy, representatives of Plateau United.

He said " You should expect something stronger, we are bringing the trophy back home."

Meanwhile, his teammate and top scorer of the season, Opeyemi Yusuf stated that they are ready to fight for badge of the club and defend the trophy just like Oluwaseun had said.

The dynamic duo who have 14 goals between them are ready to take the Junior Sky Blue Stars to a consecutive title win and believe they can keep their strike partnership going strong and bring the trophy back home.

The final comes up on Friday, 28th April, 2023 at the Remo Stars Stadium.

Rivers United Captain, Festus Austin has spoken positively of his side's chances when they play Tanzanian side, Young African in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup quarter final in Uyo this Sunday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Austin who has been a long standing presence in United's team tells that he and his teammates are ready to do the needful when the play at the Uyo Stadium, a stadium he says is a favourable ground.

“Uyo has been a favourable ground for us, not just in the CAF Confederation Cup, even in the league, ” He said ahead of the clash after Friday's training.

”The last three seasons we’ve been having good results here so we are hopeful we will get something positive on Sunday against Young Africans.”

Austin who knows what it means to win after playing a part in the "Pride of Rivers" winning the NPFL last season says the target of the team is to win the trophy.

“We know the importance of this game to the whole country and we have set a target for ourselves to win this trophy. We assure our fans that we will not disappoint, please come out on Sunday and support us,” he appealed.

The two teams have a date on Sunday (today) at the Goodwill Akpabio Stadium at 2pm.

Osho had stated he had left the Rivers United  via his official Facebook on Tuesday, but gave no reason. A post he has since deleted.

However, the former Enyimba gaffer  made a U-turn on his resignation from his role as Chief Coach at Rivers United stating in a tweet "Going back to the family Rivers United". "Off To Jos..."

He was seen on the bench in the match between Lobi Stars and  Rivers United are in Jos on Wednesday  in a rescheduled game.

There is no news from the management of the Rivers State club on what may have transpired.

The Akure side were sanctioned for failing to control their fans who disrupted the match day 13 clash between them and Enugu Rangers where they won by two goals to one.

The club got a sanction totaling the sum of ?1m with a warning of possible closure of the stadium to fans should there be a repeat of the breach.

According to the IMC, Sunshine Stars breached Rule B13.52 and Rule B13.18 of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Framework and Rules.

The club were fined for five hundred thousand naira respectively for failure to provide adequate security and implement effective crowd control and disruption of the match by the fans.

Sunshine Stars have the right to either submit to the summary jurisdiction and the sanctions or elect to be dealt with by a disciplinary panel over the fine which is to be paid within 14 days.

Remo Stars Beyond Limits Football Academy have lost their last match of the Generation Adidas Cup Showcase Game on Sunday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

They were beaten 4-1 by Orlando City in a match that the Nigerian side scored first.

Promise Meliga opened the score for Beyond Limits before the end of the first half, a goal that kept them in the lead till the end of the half.

However, it was a second half to forget as Orlando City equalled score early into the half through a corner to set themselves up for a goal feast.

Afterwards, Orlando City scored three quick goals to put the game beyond the African club representatives.

Star striker, Junior Lokosa of Remo Stars will be out for the rest of the season following a successful surgery on his arm, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The former Kano Pillars player sustained an arm injury in his side's Nigeria Premier Football League match day 11 encounter with El Kanemi Warriors in Maiduguri where the Sky Blue Stars won 1-2.

Lokosa got injured in his first start for the Ikenne based side in the 14th minute of the game and was replaced by Andy Okpe.

The experienced striker joined the Sky Blue Stars at the end of March ahead of the resumption of the second stanza of the league, playing just two matches against Nasarawa United as an 83rd minute substitute and the match against El Kanemi Warriors.

Remo Stars Beyond Limits FA put behind them their round of 16 exit at the Generation Adidas Cup going on in Florida by winning their Showcase Game match on Thursday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Beyond Limits defeated Seattle Sounders by a goal to nil through Peter Adejimi's second half goal.

The Nigerian side started the game the brighter side seeking to be in front, but Kparobo Arierhi and Peter Adejimi could not make their efforts count as the first half ended stalemate.

Remo Stars' academy started the second half like a house on fire as Adejimi made no mistake this time to put his team ahead after a minute into the match.

They held on to the lead to win as they continue their good outing as African representatives despite a last 16 exit.

The Sky Blue Stars saw 3 points and 3 goals deducted from them and a fine of ?1.25million imposed on them over assault on match day official. The General Manager of the club will also face Prosecution in Court for his act in the game.

Only 45 minutes of action was played in the match day 12 encounter in Ikenne before the game was abandoned by the match officials.

The game was reportedly abandoned as a result of intimidation from the home fans who challenged the referee’s call on Dayo Ojo’s tackle which led to a red card in the 44th minute.

According to several sources, the assault continued in the dressing room after halftime and match officials then took the decision not to come out for second half.

After match day 12 of the Nigeria Women's Football League, NWFL Premiership on Wednesday, there were contrasting fortunes for Delta Queens and Ibom Angels, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Delta Queens defeated Osun Babes by three goals to nil to retain their top spot of the league group A standings and secure their place in the Super Six.

A goal from Agoh Favour Chinaza and a brace from league top scorer, Omokwu Mercy helped Delta Queens ease pass Osun Babes at the Asaba Township Stadium.

On the other hand, Ibom Angels were walloped seven goals to one by Robo Queens at the Legacy Pitch National Stadium, Surulere.

The Orange Ladies had led after Afensimi Omon's eleventh minute goal, but began to fall like a pack of cards as Maria Oke levelled score two minutes later for the hosts.

Esther Adebayo scored in the 34th minute for Robo Queens as they led till the end of the first half.

The Lagos Landladies came out in the second half gun blazing as Shukura Oladipo made it three in the 55th minute while Rukayat Shobowale scored the 4th four minutes later.

Oladipo completed her brace in the 71st minute to make it 5-1 while Folashade Ijamilusi 75th minute penalty compounded Ibom Angels's woes.

Opeyemi Ajakaye rounded off the onslaught at the dead of the game to end the tie 7-1 in favour of Robo Queens.

The Nigerian academy team fell 4-1 on penalties after playing a goalless affair in 90 minutes in Florida.

The boys from the Ikenne for the third time in the tournament went into penalties after failing to win at regulation time, but were unlucky to scale through.

They had qualified to the round of 16 after garnering two points following a win via penalties after playing 1-1 with St. Louis SC in their first match.

In the second game, they lost on penalties 8-7 after 1-1 full time score with Strikers FC, but still earned a point after the game.

Nigerian league champions Rivers United have been drawn against Tanzanian side Young Africans Sport Club in the quarter finals of the CAF Confederation Cup, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

After Wednesday draws in Cairo, it was revealed that the Pride of Rivers will host the first leg in Nigeria on the weekend of April 23.

The Second leg will be played 7 days later at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium, the home ground of Yanga in Tanzania.

It promises to be a mouthwatering over two legs as it will be a clash of two teams that top their respective leagues.

The Nigeria Premier Football League reigning champions succumbed to a one zero defeat at the Municipal Stadium, Yamoussoukro.

A possibility of the NPFL side doing the double over the Ivorian giants after a 3-0 win in the first leg did not materalise as an early goal by the Hosts was enough to get the win.

Prior to the tie, the two sides had secured qualification to the last 8 with 10 points as group leaders and were seeking to ascertain which team will finish top of the log.

It only took ASEC two minutes to score the only goal of the encounter courtesy of Karidioula Mofessé Trésor's strike.

Nigeria's sole representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup, Rivers United have landed in Cote D'Ivoire for their match against ASEC Mimosas on Friday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The pride of Rivers arrived at the Félix Houphouët Boigny International Airport in Abidjan Cote D'Ivoire and will embark on a road trip to Yamoussoukro. at noon.

Nigeria's only team left in the CAF Confederation Cup, Rivers United have migrated to the quarter final of the competition after sharing the spoils with Diables Noirs of Congo on Sunday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Pride of Rivers played a two all draw with the Congolese side after regulation time at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.

Nyima Nwagua's brace rescued a draw for Rivers United in a pulsating encounter that saw the home side trail at some point.

An own goal by Emmanuel Ampiah in the 27th minute gave the visiting team the lead. A lead they held on to till the end of the half.

After much push for goal, Nwagua finally gave the home side the respite needed as he restored parity in the 73rd minute.

He made it 2-1 in favour of United with his brace four minutes later through a beautiful finish.

However, Egalise Bassinga made sure the Congolese didn't leave Nigeria empty handed as he scored in the 81st minutes.

With 10 points from a possible 15 after 5 matches in group B, Rivers United progress to the quarter final.

He completes his transfer to the Sky Blue Stars club on Friday as a free agent ahead of the kickoff of the second stanza of 2022/23 season.

The former NPFL top scorer says he is ready to advance the course of an ambitious Remo Stars with goals.

"It's good to be back to the NPFL, Remo Stars is a new challenge for me, as the club has stamped itself as one of the top teams in the NPFL, and with great ambition.

"Having qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup at the end of last season, there is a drive in the club to win trophies and also be among the top Nigerian team that features regular in the continent.

He later had a brief stint with Kwara United where he scored 8 times in the 2021/2022 season.

He was reported to have completed a one-year deal with Al Rayyan in 2022.

The Nigerian representatives defeated their Congolese opponents by three goals to one in a game dominated by the Pride of Rivers.

The Nigerian league reigning champions had gotten a hard fought win in Angola last week, but a hat trick from Pascal Acquah ensured a comfortable win for the Port Harcourt based team.

After enjoying ascendency for most part of the half, the Ghanaian international made sure the dominance paid off as he scored at the dead of the half through a header from Ukeme Williams' cross.

Acquah made it two for the Host after he sliced home from Ampiah Emmanuel's cross in the 55th minute of the game.

Substitute Mydo Nakouho Yallet scored for the visitors in the 78th minute to reduce the deficit, but it only proved a consolation as Acquah completed his hat trick after 90 + 4 minutes to finish the game 3-1.

It is a back to back win for Rivers United who has done the double over DRC Motema Pembe.

Rivers United of Nigeria achieved consecutive victories in the CAF Confederation Cup after beating Motema Pembe of Congo on Sunday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The defending champions of the Nigeria Premier Football League showed character after going a man down, to win by a goal to nil courtesy of a Paul Acquah's goal away from home in Luanda, Angola.

Ebube Duru had fallen on the wrong side of the referee after a foul in the 28th minute earned him a yellow. Things became worse as Duru was given the matching orders 12 minutes after the first yellow card.

Nevertheless, Rivers were effective enough to hold their Host and even score early in the second half.
