Nigeria's Chuba Akpom once again was pivotal for Ajax as they came from behind to earn a point away from home against Sparta Rotterdam in the Dutch football league on Sunday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Akpom came off the bench to score one and assist another to help AFC Ajax to a 2-2 draw at the Sparta Stadion.

Arno Verschueren had open the score on 28 minutes to give the host the lead at the end of the first half.

He doubled the lead just 2 minutes after the resumption of the game, but Akpom who had replaced Kristian Hlynsson on 55 minute reduced the deficit 10 minutes later courtesy of an assist from Jordan Henderson.

The Nigerian turned provider subsequently for fellow substitute, Steven Bergwijn to restore parity 2 minutes for Ajax to end of the encouounter.

Akpom has now scored 7 goals with 1 assist in the 20232023 Eredivise season.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino has said it is the responsibility of the governing body to ensure the bidding process for future World Cups is “bullet-proof.”

The hosting rights for the 2018 and 2022 events given to Russia and Qatar have been tainted by allegations of corruption.

Infantino, who was elected FIFA boss last month, wants to begin the bidding process for the 2026 World Cup within three months.

“We have to get the 2026 bidding process absolutely right,” Infantino told the BBC.

“It’s certainly the commitment that I want to give, that I will do everything I can to make sure that this happens because I think that the credibility of FIFA is, as well, at stake here.
